Background of Maa Charitable Foundation, Rameswarpur

Maa Charitable Foundation, Rameswarpur was founded on 23rd September 2022 by members of the Ghosh family. The Ghosh family is well-known in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India, and the trust continues their charitable work across various parts of the region.

Although the trust was formally established in 2022, the family’s commitment to social service dates back much earlier. During the period of Subjugated India, the Ghosh family, in collaboration with local villagers, donated land and provided financial support to establish a school for both boys and girls—an initiative aimed at promoting education in the area.

This institution, now known as Rameswarpur Union Adarsha Vidyalaya, was founded in 1944 and is currently a government-affiliated school. Today, it serves as a cornerstone of education in the region, with more than 1,000 students enrolled.

Rameswarpur Post office

In 1937, to safeguard the hard-earned savings of the villagers, the Ghosh family took the initiative to establish a post office in the village. Today, it is widely known as the Rameswarpur Post Office. The family generously donated the land and funded the entire construction of the post office.

Jamidar Bari Dhalai Rasta

The Ghosh family donated land for the construction of a road and a primary school. In recognition of their contribution, the state government named the road ‘Jamidar Bari Dhalai Rasta’

Lands were distributed among the tenants (‘prajader vitore’), and portions were allocated to the government for establishing BSF camps and related facilities, as the area is situated along the India–Bangladesh border.
